CAMP COLES TRIP

Take a Virtual Tour of Camp Coles Trip.

Camp Coles trip is a scenic camp located on the banks of the Aquia Creek, a tributary of the Potomac River in Stafford, Virginia. It's waterfront is certainly the center point for activity at camp. About 70 girls entering grades six through 12 attend Coles Trip for one and two- week sessions. Girls entering grades 10-12 have the opportunity to participate in tripping units if they are experienced in either kayaking or sailing. The Junior Counselor program is also available for girls entering 12th grade who have an interest in Coles Trip.

CAMP PROGRAM

The focus at Coles Trip is the waterfront. Campers come to learn how to sail, kayak, windsurf, or canoe. After going through a basic one week program many campers come back summer after summer to perfect their skills in our intermediate and advanced program. When the units are not at the water they maybe hunting for sharks teeth, doing arts and crafts, playing games, hiking around camp, or just enjoying being with friends.

FACILITIES

Living Units, each accommodating 24 campers, consist of a unit shelter, latrines, washstand, fire circle and glen shelters or platform tents. Campers and staff live in glen shelters or platform tents. A glen shelter is a wood structure with four sides, a wooden floor and wooden roof. They have canvas curtains that can be closed in inclement weather. Platform tents are large canvas tents that have wooden floors. Each structure sleeps 4-6 campers; staff members stay in a separate shelter in the unit. Cots, mattresses and mosquito netting are provided.

Additional facilities include a dining hall and kitchen, camp office, health center, arts and crafts building, shower house, staff glen shelter (for breaks) and river access (for swimming).
