Ask it Basket - Money Management

How will cash purchases be tracked on a troop checking account if a debit /check card is not used?
All cash purchases will also need receipts. A withdrawal receipt from an ATM will not suffice. The cash purchase should match up with the cash withdrawal shown on the banks tatement.

Do Seniors/Ambassadors open up their own/individual accounts and not a troop account?
Girl Scout Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador troops have the option of using the Individual Girl Financial Records System. The system allows for individual record keeping within the troop account -- it does not allow individual bank accounts for each girl. See page 65 of Volunteer Essentials for more info.

How do you involve Daisies and Brownies in Money Management?
See page 63 of Volunteer Essentials

Do you need originals of bank statements and receipts?
You can turn in copies of bank statements and receipts.

Suntrust has said we are not eligible for online banking because we all use the same tax ID. Do you have any assistance?
SunTrust is undergoing a number of policy changes on banking. Please check here for updated info: http://www.gscnc.org/managingtroopaccount.html

Does the new Money Manager Program mean troops do not fill out a Money Mnager report at the end of the year?
Correct. The A150 form is no longer being used.

What happens at the end of the year if money still remains? All girls are graduating. Can the troop donate money to charity? Can you help pay for lifetime memberships? Does it go to the CU?
Girls must discuss and decide how they want to spend the money.
