Fall Curriculum Development Internship

The Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital, which serves 63,000 girls in the greater Washington area, is seeking qualified applicants for its curriculum development internship position.  The internship is designed to provide practical, hands-on program experience to students pursuing a degree in education, museum education, or communications.  The position is also appropriate for recent college graduates.

Responsibilities

  • Creates, develops, writes and interprets Girl Scout curriculum materials. Possible topics include:
    • Zoology
    • DC culture and history
    • Domestic violence and healthy relationships
    • Literature/literacy
    • Conflict resolution and peace building
  • Attend training sessions and ongoing program meetings as scheduled
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed

Schedule and Duration

  • 8-10 weeks, late August/Early September to mid-December
  • Minimum 15-20 hours/week
  • Flexible hours; GSCNC office hours are 9 am-5 pm.

Requirements

  • Prior experience and enthusiasm for working with girls ages 5-17, families, and adults
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully research and write on topics which may be unfamiliar

Academic credit may be arranged in cooperation with a sponsoring college or university. A travel stipend is available. Position is based in the metro-accessible Washington, DC office; however additional travel within the council jurisdiction may be required occasionally.
