Fall Environmental Programs Internship

The Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital, which serves 63,000 girls in the greater Washington area, is seeking qualified applicants for its Girl Scouts Forever Green program internship position. The internship is designed to provide practical, hands-on environmental program delivery experience to students pursuing a degree in environmental studies, museum education, communications, or a science discipline. The position is also appropriate for recent college graduates.

Responsibilities

Implements GSCNC's participation in the national rollout of the Girl Scouts Forever Green Community Action Project
Supports environmental program events including the Environmental Leadership Institute
Creates, develops, writes and interprets environmental program materials.
Attend training sessions and ongoing program meetings as scheduled
Perform administrative tasks as needed

Schedule and Duration

8-10 weeks, mid-June to mid-August (flexible)
Minimum 15-20 hours/week
Flexible hours; GSCNC office hours are 9 am-5 pm.

Requirements

Prior experience and enthusiasm for working with girls ages 5-17, families, and adults
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Academic credit may be arranged in cooperation with a sponsoring college or university. A travel stipend is available. Position is based in the metro-accessible Washington, DC office; however additional travel within the council jurisdiction may be required occasionally.
