Share supports.....Summer Camperships

Can you believe that summer is right around the corner? Before we know it, many girls in our council will be on summer vacation and ready to experience new things at camp!

Last summer, 9,731 girls attended day and evening camps and 3,391 girls participated in sleep-away camps. SHARE dollars helped to send many of these girls, who couldn’t have afforded it on their own, to camp. Without the generosity of our donors, they would have missed out on the life-changing experiences that camping offers, like meeting girls from other backgrounds, getting in touch with nature, developing independence, and learning to be a leader.

One mother of a Girl Scout who attended camp wrote the following about her daughter’s experience:

I find it difficult to find engaging programs geared towards teens that they are actually interested in. I sent my 14 year old to camp much against her will. She has talked non-stop about camp since her return. She participated in life-changing activities and wants to return next year as a Counselor-In-Training. Who would have ever thought that an internet hog would enjoy caving, tubing in the Shenandoah River and sleeping amongst new friends under a mosquito net in a cabin?! Without your financial assistance camp would have never been possible for her. Thank you!

Your hard work for SHARE and your generous contributions are making experiences like these available to many more girls. As you talk about SHARE this month, think about the summer ahead and what a difference you and your peers can make in a girl’s life by supporting her camp opportunities!

If you haven’t already, please consider making a contribution to SHARE that will help send girls to camp. It costs $350 for one girl’s week-long stay at summer camp. Any amount that you can contribute toward this experience will make a difference for her.

If you have any inspiring stories about camp, I’d love to hear them and be able to share with other volunteers and parents!

Thank you for your continued support and generosity!
