 RealignmentNEWS Three years ago, the National Board of Girl Scouts of the USA established a new map, consolidating jurisdictions and reducing the number of Girl Scout Councils from 313 to 109. As part of this national "realignment," GSCNC was slated to receive Frederick County, MD from Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council and Clarke, Warren, and Frederick Counties, VA from Shawnee Girl Scout Council. In recent months, for demographic reasons, the jurisdictional map was redrawn, making Nation's Capital the "unexpected merger partner" of Shawnee Girl Scout Council. This change will require action at the Board level as well as a vote of Council Delegates at our Annual Meeting. The links below have been developed to ensure all available information is communicated to our volunteers, and to provide an opportunity for feedback from our membership.
