What are YOU thankful for in Girl Scouting?!

At this special time of year, what are you thankful for?

Thanks to you, there are many girls who are thankful for Girl Scouting and the wonderful ways it has improved their lives. Here are a few girls’ personal messages about why they are thankful for Girl Scouting.

I am thankful for Girl Scouts because Girl Scouts are family. Even though we come from all over the world, and we all have different beliefs and lives, we are always there for each other, no matter what. We share secrets and hang out like best friends and we love each other like sisters. Without all of my sisters, I would not be where I am today because they make me a better person, and inspire me to help others.

--Cintia Samatia, Girl Scout Senior Troop #5123

When I first came into Girl Scouts, I was as shy as a girl could be. But as I passed through each level, I found that my inner voice seemed to rise higher and higher in my body. And one day, when I was a Girl Scout Junior, I conducted and called out the commands for a flag ceremony, all by myself.

--Kara Coker, Girl Scout Cadette Troop #675

I'm thankful for GIrl Scouts because of all the opportunities [Girl Scouting] provides us with. I have been able to take behind the scenes tours of the FBI, visit the State Department where I heard Hillary Clinton speak, and the American History Museum. It has shown me many different careers that I could possibly go into and has taught me leadership qualities.

--Erin McFarland, Girl Scout Senior Troop #871

I have a been a Girl Scout for nine years, and I have had some of the best experiences of my life. Girl Scouts is where I first learned to cook over a campfire, and how to make a splint for injured people. I also slept over at the Langley Space Museum in Hampton, VA, and learned cool things about airplanes and spacecraft. Without Girl Scouts, I would not have had these cool experiences.

--Sarah Gerde, Girl Scout Senior Troop #1194

Girl Scouts has impacted my life in a huge way. In fact, I wouldn't have been the same person as I am today if it hadn't been for Girl Scouts! I started Girl Scouts when I was about 5 years old, and it has taught me good morals, leadership, independence and how to be caring for my community. I have had an amazing time in Girl Scouts and I am forever thankful.

--Brenna McFarland, Girl Scout Senior Troop #871

For those of you who haven’t yet, please consider making a donation to help give girls like Kara, Erin and Brenna more Girl Scout experiences to be thankful for. Follow this link to make a contribution today!
