Girl Scout Cadette Troop 6600 Earn Silver Awards

Troop 6600 of Washington, DC had seven Silver Awardees.  Their Silver projects were very diverse, and all of the girls demonstrated remarkable creativity and sincere commitment to the issues. The project titles were:

A History of Lift Every Voice and Sing - a skit to teach the history of the song was presented at Our Cabana World Center in Mexico, at a nursing home, and at Investiture.

Child Abuse: Together We Can Make a Difference - a project to inform the public about child abuse issues in the District of Columbia and a drive to collect books and toiletries for child abuse victims.

Fire Safety and Prevention Fair - a project to inform the public about the inordinate number of fires in the District of Columbia and to provide information and smoke detectors to help prevent death by fire.

The Election Connection - two girls creatively and enthusiastically presented the requirements for the Election Connection patch to a junior Girl Scout troop during two Friday evening meeting sessions, resulting in 30 girls earning the patch.

Helpful Pet Hints for Kids! - designed, wrote and illustrated a very professional and attractive children's book about how to care for pets.  The book was reviewed and approved by veterinarians and is displayed in eight animal clinics.

Making Good Choices - effectively presented a project that encouraged the youth who attended to consider avoiding behaviors involving risk factors that confront youth everyday, including drinking, drugs and unsafe sexual activity.

All of these girls have now moved up to Senior Troop 560, and their families, as well as their troop advisor, Mrs. Vida Anderson, are all very proud of their accomplishments!
