Troop 4879 Made Over 40 Name Plates for Babies in the NICU at INOVA

Junior Girl Scout Troop 4879 of Broadlands, VA, made over 40 name plates for babies in the NICU at INOVA Loudoun Hospital with the help of Erica Kordes and the March of Dimes. The troop has a special connection with early births and wanted to do something to make the babies' families feel like their little ones were in a cozy spot, not just a hospital. Friend of the troop Erica Kordes, parent of a preemie and also on the board at the hospital, had the perfect solution. Erica was spending sleepless nights making preemie blankets and name plates for the new babies in the hospital. She knew how it felt to have to leave her precious newborn each night and wanted families experiencing this to feel like they weren't alone and to give them hope. Erica is hoping to receive a grant from Pepsi to further her idea for expanding a NICU support project in Loudoun. Troop 4879 hopes to be a part of it.
