AssociationsAssociations are the largest and most important policy-influencing groups within the GSCNC corporate structure. At present, there are 23 Associations in the Maryland, District of Columbia and Northern Virginia areas. Each Association meets a minimum of twice a year (Fall and Spring) to hear about council-wide initiatives (often from Officers and Board members) and to influence the operations of the Council by submitting proposals and operational suggestions. In addition, Associations elect Delegates and Alternate Delegates who serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Directors. Delegates, who must be 14 years of age or older as are registered members of Girl Scouts, meet at least twice a year with their Associations and at the GSCNC Annual Meeting in April. Representing their Associations at the Annual Meeting, Delegates elect Officers, Board and Nominating Committee Members and suggest ways to enrich Girl Scouting within the community, GSCNC, and the national organization, GSUSA. Associations are allotted one delegate for every 150 registered girls. For further information about Associations, please contact lsoto-harmon@gscnc.org.
