Camp Brighton Woods

Camp Brighton Woods, in Brookville, Maryland, was acquired in 1958 by the Washington, DC Girl Scout Council.

Brighton woods is 60 acres of rustic, wooded land in Montgomery County, boasting a large sports field and amphitheater.

Facilities
The camp features a large lodge, six glen shelter units, one platform tent unit, two primitive units, and a primitive unit for day use only.  The maximum capacity for the entire camp is 225.  Map

Brighton Lodge is heated in the winter and provides year-round hot and cold water. Most units have frost-free cold water spigots year-round.

A small stack of split firewood is available at each glen shelter and platform tent unit.

Weather warnings are often issued by county. Brighton Woods is in Montgomery County but closely borders Howard County.
If threatening weather approaches, take shelter immediately. At Brighton Woods troops should
evacuate to the basement of Brighton Lodge if there is an emergency.

Paper products (toilet paper, paper towels) are NOT PROVIDED at our campsites (including lodges).

Reservation
To learn more about Camp Brighton Woods or reserve a campsite there, visit our registration website. This site is password protected and the password is released to troop leaders who have filed an updated B220 form for the year. This form asks you to list certified adults associated with your troop and must include a leader (101 and level training), first aider, and camping qualified (200) adult. Camp Caretaker
Meet Brighton Woods' Caretaker, Gregg Jensen! Greg also takes care of Camp Crowell near Oakton, Virginia.

Gregg lives near Leesburg, Virginia and is on call for any issues before or after you arrive. His contact information is available on the camp information packet you will receive when you reserve a campsite at Brighton Woods.

There's no need for you to check in with Gregg when you arrive at camp, but if you'd like to leave him a note (regarding things that need to be fixed- or just a "thank you"), a caretaker's mailbox is available on the road into camp near the dumpster.
