GSCNC CampsCamp AquascoCamp Aquasco is an 172 acre facility located in Aquasco, Maryland in Prince George's County. A large portion of this site is leased from the Maryland Capital Parks and Planning Commission (MCPPC). The south side of the camp is a primitive, natural environment and virtually all development on this portion of the camp has been planned and accomplished by Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts. The north side of camp features a lodge and glen shelter unit. Program Opportunities One-site activities include hiking the marked trails, a chance to explore a watershed (on the red trail), plant and wildlife identification, and conservation projects. The Arthur F. Padgett Amphitheater provides a wonderful place for a campfire. Canoeing is available with access to the Patuxent River (via a creek in the Dr. Brown Sanctuary). All waterfront activities require proper certified waterfront personnel (refer to Safety-Wise.) Features Aquasco offers open meadows bordered by oak and sassafras trees. A variety of wildflowers and plants are located on the marked trails. A hedge of Autumn Olive is located on the road near the MCPPC area entrance. Water Sources The only water on the south side of camp is located at the pump house just east of the Mary Rhomberg Pavilion. The north side of camp has running water inside the lodge and a washstand outside for the glen shelter unit. Telephone The phone jack on the south side is located on the telephone pole adjacent to the Pavilion. The phone on the north side is located inside the lodge. Site Description In the area owned by the MCPPC all campsites are located in the meadow. There are 5 permanent latrines. The sites do not have any shelters, tables, or established fire circles. The Mary Rhomber Pavilion is located near the meadow campsites. The Arthur F. Padgett Amphitheater is located beyond the campsites down the red trail. Campers must pack out gear to sites - no cars are permitted beyond the parking lot. Directions to Camp Aquasco Farm
