Camp Crowell

Camp Crowell is an 60 acre facility, located in Oakton, Virginia in Fairfax County. Because it can be easily reached from the 495 Beltway, this camp is convenient to may Council troops. The varied terrain also adds to its appeal , offering challenges to both overnight and day trips.

Program Opportunities

On-site activities include hiking, nature walks and field sports. Facilities include a sports field, a large amphitheater, a par fitness course which is located on Blueberry Hill and a challenge Course. All Challenge Course activities require properly certified GSCNC personnel (refer to Camping Serves Manager and Safety-Wise.)

Features

Camp Crowell offers a fine study of wild life including species such as turtle, raccoon, owl, and many varieties of both large and small birds. Vegetation includes oak, maple, sassafras, burl oak, chinquapin oak, cedar, persimmon and a variety of wild flowers and plants.

Water Sources

There are several year-round water sources. They are located at the south of the pump house next to the Crowell Lodge and in Crowell Lodge. There are additional sources of water available for use until early November or until water freezes.

The camp pay telephone is located on the porch of Crowell Lodge.
