How to reserve a GSCNC Campsite |

CampingCamp Coles TripCamp Coles Trip is a 225 acre facility, located on Aquia Creek in Stafford County, near Stafford, Virginia. The terrain is beautiful and rugged with a deep valley through the center of camp. Aquia sandstone was taken from quarries in the area to be used in the construction of the Capital Building and the White House. Program Opportunities Activities include hiking, nature walks, sea shell hunting near the cliffs and beach combing for fossil sharks' teeth. Hiking may sometimes prove strenuous due to the rugged terrain. Beginning canoeing and sailing is available on Aquia Creek. To rent canoes and/or sailboats see "The Green Pages" for equipment rental. Aquia Creek, adjoins the Potomac River (a tidal river), offering more advanced opportunities for skilled canoeist and sailor. All waterfront activities require proper certified waterfront personnel (refer to Safety-Wise.) Features Camp Coles Trip offers a variety of vegetation including oak, maple, tulip poplar, sassafras, paw-paw, beech, blackberry, fern and Jack-in-the-pulpit. Water Sources There are eight year-round sources of water in the camp. They are located at the pump house between the White House site and Aquia Lodge, white block building at Holly Ridge, Ross Lodge at Aquia, Arrowhead Lodge, Freedom Lodge, Virginia Sky View, Tall Oaks Corner, and Hylton Hollow. Additional sources of water available at all sites except Dogwood from early April until mid-October or until water freezes. Telephone Camp telephones are located inside Arrowhead and Ross lodges.
