How to reserve a GSCNC Campsite |

CampingCamp WinonaCamp Winona is a 178 acre site located in Charles County near Hughesville, Maryland. It offers a variety of interesting trails and a pond. Program Opportunities On-site activities include hiking (numerous well marked trails) and both summer and winter field games on the two large fields in camp. Fishing and canoeing is available on Trefoil Pond. To rent canoes contact the Camping/Property Specialist. Plays, skits and other related activities also may be performed on the ground's amphitheater. All waterfront activities require proper certified waterfront personnel (refer to Safety-Wise.) Features Camp Winona offers a mixture of meadows and wooded areas of laurel with oak, pine and cedar trees. Wildlife includes raccoon, black snake and snapping turtle near Trefoil Pond. Numerous well-marked trails are excellent for hiking and a unique creek bed of blue clay is a good location for fossil hunting. Water Sources There are four year-round outdoor sources of water in the camp. They are located: on the west side of Laurel Lodge; at the turn-off to PEPCO Lodge at Kottke; at Deer Crossing and at Aspen. There are additional sources of water available for use until mid-October or until water freezes. Telephone The camp telephone is located at Laurel Lodge.
