Canoeing and Kayaking

Practice your paddling skills on the water at Camp Coles Trip, Camp Winona, Camp White Rock, or reserve boats on trailers to take with you to other flatwater locations! NEW Kayaking opportunities near Brighton Woods--contact Susan Kabat, Camping Specialist for additonal information.

To reserve canoes at one of our camps or a canoe trailer for your troop, please fill out the reservation form that can be found here. In order for Troops to reserve canoes, they will need to have a canoe-trained adult.

To reserve kayaks at one of our camps or a kayak trailer for your troop, please fill out the reservation form that can be found here. In order for troops to reserve kayaks, they will need to have a kayak-trained adult.  Moving water certification is needed for any moving water canoe or kayak trips.  

Trained adult to participant ratios for boating according to Safety-Wise:
Flatwater Canoeing: 1 adult per 12 participants
Moving Water Canoeing: 1 adult per 8 participants
Flatwater and Moving Water Kayaking: 1 adult per 5 participants

Spring Trainings for Canoeing and Kayaking have been scheduled! Kayak Training will be offered May 5th at Lake Audubon in Fairfax VA and Canoe Training will be offered April 28th at Riley's Lock in Poolesville MD. Our resource lists enable Troops without a trained adult to request someone to help work with their Troop.
