Congressional AideA Lasting Partnership "I was pleased to have constituents of the 10th district of Virginia participate in the Girl Scout Congressional Aide Program. The Girl Scout Aides provided the highest caliber of assistance to my office and staff while learning about the inner workings of Congress. They were excellent goodwill ambassadors for the Girl Scouts." "I was so happy to host two young women as part of the Girl Scout Congressional Aide Program this year in my office. They represented the honor and commitment of this important program, which has helped educate young women from all over the country about our political system, with the utmost respect, hard work, and courtesy." Assignments vary among offices, but typical tasks include answering phones, sorting mail, communicating with other offices, conducting research or handling press clipings, and welcoming guests into the assigned office. "I really got a feel for what a career in public policy can be like--this experience showed me firsthand how our government works." "I got to work in the actual buildings where our country's laws are drafted and passed, as well as meet the people who are involved in that process. The fact that I played a role in that, even if just for a short amount of time, is incredible."
