A Lasting Partnership
Over the past 40 years, Girl Scouts Nation's Capital has partnered with Congressional offices and organizations to provide week-long internships to highly-qualified high school students.  We invite Girl Scouts and Congressional offices to celebrate this historic program with us by participating in summer 2015!

Reflections on the program from Congressional Offices:

"I was pleased to have constituents of the 10th district of Virginia participate in the Girl Scout Congressional Aide Program.  The Girl Scout Aides provided the highest caliber of assistance to my office and staff while learning about the inner workings of Congress.  They were excellent goodwill ambassadors for the Girl Scouts."
--Representative Frank Wolf, 10th district of Virginia

"I was so happy to host two young women as part of the Girl Scout Congressional Aide Program this year in my office. They represented the honor and commitment of this important program, which has helped educate young women from all over the country about our political system, with the utmost respect, hard work, and courtesy."
--Representative Renee Ellmers, 2nd district of North Carolina

Reflectiosn on the program from Girl Scout Congressional Aides:

"Seeing the opinions from real people in Congressman Farr's district made me realize how much the citizens have a say in government.  I felt honored to be a part of a governement that is 'of the people, by the people, and for the people.'"

-Lauren B., Congressional Aide

"This program is amazing, and I am eternally grateful for all I got the opportunity to learn. Next time I am in Washington, DC, looking at the monuments and at all of the museums, when I see a sliver of the US Capitol Building in the distance, I will stand a bit taller and prouder knowing that I was part of such an incredible process."

-Komal S., Congressional Aide

"Through the program I expanded my knowledge on how the government works, especially within the legislative branch. It is one thing to learn about the legislative process, but it is another to be completely immersed in it, not to mention in our country's Capital!"

-Savannah S. Congressional Aide

"The entire office was so welcoming and friendly. I even had the chance to meet the Congresswoman and she told me that she enjoyed being a Girl Scout herself."

-Lauren W., Congressional Aide
