The 2010 Girl Scout Cookie Program kicks off with friends & family order taking starting December 18, 2009

GSCNC Troops conduct the Girl Scout Cookie Sale from December 18 through March 28, 2010. The sale is broken down into three parts:

• Initial orders are taken from December 18 to January 4- early bird Friends & Family order taking. Publicity Launch January 4 and order taking continues until January 24, 2010
• Catch-Up Orders from January 25 to February 19.
• Booth Sales from February 19 to March 28.

Eight varieties of cookies are available and sell for $3.50 per box. The troop profit for every box sold is $0.60 or $0.65 cents depending on the incentive plan chosen by the troop

To buy cookies:
The best way is through your local Girl Scout Troop! If a Girl Scout does not stop by your home, you can email cookies@gscnc.org  and we will attempt to connect you with a local group in your neighborhood. During the month of March, troops will be conducting booth sales all over the council area. Check our Cookie Locator to identify a booth sale in your neighborhood..

The benefits of the Girl Scout Cookie Program activities:
The Cookie Program provides an opportunity for girls to develop valuable LIFE SKILLS such as:

• Teamwork ... working with others in the troop with each girl striving to do her best and use her strengths
• Goal setting and planning .... by planning troop activities  and setting financial goals to fulfill those plans
• Responsibility ... through meeting deadlines, gathering orders and being responsive to peers, cookie managers and customers.
• Communication skills ... through talking to customers about the cookies and how the funds will be used.
• Financial and math skills ... setting budgets, meeting goals, totaling orders and tracking funds.
• Entrepreneurial skills ... through exploring new ways to market sell and distribute cookies.
• Self-reliance/self-confidence ... by overcoming shyness, learning to talk to others, setting and achieving group and personal goals, and discovering new strengths.
• Honesty and integrity ... through using a meaningful set of values, The Girl Scout Promise and Law, to guide their actions.
• Support a cause you believe in ... For the council, cookie sale earnings help bridge the gap between income from other sources, such as gifts, bequests, and grants and the money required to provide Girl Scouting in the community. Troop proceeds help local Girl Scout troops engage in a wide variety of activities, field trips, and service projects. Funds from cookie sales help our council recruit and train the volunteer leadership for each troop, provide financial assistance to make Girl Scouting available to all girls, improve and maintain campsites as well as subsidize local programming opportunities.
