New Leadership Journey Programs for Girls

Troops are invited to come learn all about the New Girl Scout Leadership Journey through fun-filled, interactive programming. $4/girl. This registration is for the Girl Journey Program only. Adults who wish to participate in the Adult Journey Training (being held at the same time) must register at http://register.gscnc.org/Training/. If leaders plan to attend the training, please have other parents attend with the troop in order to maintain the necessary Safety Wise girl-to-adult ratio.

For Girl Scouts of All Ages
Project Thin Mint

The Girl Scouts of the USA has partnered with Vanessa and Angela Simmons of the hit MTV reality series, Run's House, for a unique project entitled Project Thin Mint - a joint effort to promote leadership as well as Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy among young girls. To commemorate this initiative, Vanessa and Angela Simmons will meet and greet current and prospective Girl Scouts and volunteers and release the special edition Girl Scout Thin Mint Fab Cookie sneaker, a new addition to their Pastry shoe line. Popular radio station WPGC 95.5 will also be on-site broadcasting live.
Vanessa and Angela Simmons proud members of the Girl Scout family, will sign autographs and sneakers, and assist in the effort to introduce Girl Scouting to those in attendance who are not currently members of the organization.

Junior Overnight Combo: Geocaching and Finding Your Way

Lincoln Caverns, Huntingdon, PA
Junior Girl Scouts will enjoy a nine-hour program and slumber party style sleepover at the Lincoln Caverns indoor lodge. This program has many interactive aspects and girls will have to work as teams to complete tasks. Featured Workshops Include: Mapping Skills, Compass Skills, Geology Maps, and more! $40/girl; $35/adult. Program fee includes lodging, an evening snack, morning breakfast, interpretive cavern tour, patch, pizza lunch and "Panning for Gems."

Living the Life: A Healthy Living Lifestyle Program

Trinity Fitness + Spa, Sterling, VA
Exercise, Nutrition and Balance: Combine them for a fun and healthy lifestyle. Teens will learn the basics about how exercise, proper nutrition, and stress management can help make life more manageable. Girls of any ability can participate in this class that incorporates basic aerobics, basic strength training, nutrition guidelines, mental and physical tools to deal with stress, and relaxation techniques. $5/person.

Calling All First Aiders and Camp Certified
Adults!
GSCNC is compiling a list of all first aiders (Levels I & II)
and camp certified adults who are willing to fulfill these roles for
various program and camping events. A Level I first aider and a camp
certified adult are needed for troop camping trips. Level II first
aiders are needed for any program serving more than 200 people. To
be considered qualified for these positions, you must have completed
the following training:
LEVEL I AND II FIRST AIDERS
* Must have taken the level-appropriate first aid course from ETR-NOVA,
American Red Cross, National Safety Council, or another recognized
Health & Safety organization (p. 37, Safety-Wise)
* Medical professionals (physicians, physician's assistants, nurses,
paramedics, EMTs) may also be considered Level I & II first aid
certified.
CAMP CERTIFIED ADULTS
* Must have completed and remained current in GSCNC's Cookout &
Campout (200 level) training.
* To become a camp certified adult, check out these courses in our
online registration catalog.
