Environmental Leadership Institute
Now Open to Campers  
Without a Camp-Certified Adult

Who: Girl Scout Cadettes

When: September 24-25, 2011

Where: Camp Potomac Woods, Leesburg, VA

Join GSCNC and Booz Allen Hamilton for an exciting overnight program focusing on environmental stewardship and green take action projects! This program, developed specifically for Cadettes, will feature curriculum based on one of the new Girls Guide to Girl Scouting Legacy Badges and a workshop on earning the Silver Award along with other engaging and interesting activities based on environmental science. We hope you'll join us for this one-of-a-kind event. Be sure to register your troop soon as spaces are limited and will go quickly.

We now have a camp certified volunteer who will stay overnight in a lodge with any solo campers or troops who do not have a camp certified adult. All Girl Scout Cadettes and adults are welcome to attend.

Fees: $25 per attendee (includes meals)

Usher in the holiday season with Encore Theatrical Arts Project's enchanting song and dance holiday extravaganza,"Santa's Special Delivery". To celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouting, at each performance, an entire troop will have the opportunity to win a walk-on role for that performance. This inspiring Girl Scout 100th Anniversary storyline will transport you from the exciting lights of New York City to the charm of Santa's place at the North Pole. Greet the season with a song in your heart and a dance in your step. One troop will be selected at each performance. In addition, our special Girl Scout Program includes: a behind the scenes tour, pre-seating, intermission snack, discounted tickets, and a chance to meet the cast.

Aladdin's Luck Girl Scout Workshop

Who: Girl Scout Brownies and Juniors

When: Saturday, October 15, 4:00 - 7:15 p.m.

Where: Imagination Stage

Girl Scouts will attend a professional theatre performance of Aladdin's Luck and then earn the People of the World Try-It or World Neighbors Badge in our post-show workshop. Girls will walk out with their earned items in hand. Space is limited, so book your troop today.

Fees: Girl $35, Adult $14, Tagalong $14.00 ($5.00 lap seats for ages two and under)-tagalongs are welcome to see the show, but may not participate in the workshop.

Snacks through Foodarts, an on-site cafe, may be ordered two weeks in advance of the workshop for an additional fee.

A Day at the Beach

Who: Girl Scouts of All Ages

When: Saturday, Oct. 22, Teens 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Younger Girls 2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Where: Camp Brighton Woods, Brookville, MD

GSCNC is bringing the beach to you for a day. Join us for crafts, snacks and experiments to help us learn how to be safe and smart in the sun. Girl Scout Teens will participate in a morning of special workshops just for them and then provide an afternoon of service by helping younger girls earn their Sun Safety patch.

Fees: $9 per girl and includes all materials and Sun Safety patch.

Camp Olympia offers a variety of programs designed to meet the Girl Scout badge requirements for the Horse Fan and Horse Riding Badges. Girl Scouts will have an educational, hands on experience through each if these programs and will learn a lot of new things about the great world of horses while having fun. Sign Up to be a Sudden Service Troop

Want your Girl Scout Troop to participate in high-profile events in the Greater Washington Region?

- Represent Girl Scouts at media events;

Girls need to have a uniform and be ready. Requests for Sudden Service Troops are often within 24 hours notice.

Challenge Course Training Opportunity

Who: Interested Adults

When: October 1-2, 2011

Where: Camp Crowell

A challenge course is a set of structures that provide a setting for different types of challenges to help increase participant self confidence, increase group cooperation and to have fun! Camp Crowell, Camp May Flather and Camp White Rock all have challenge courses with different activities at them. Interested in taking your troop or helping other troops experience the 3 challenge courses we have as a member of our resource list? No experience necessary, just an interest in getting outside and helping girls experience the high adventure opportunities.
