Council Gift of Caring
Service permeates every aspect of our culture. In Girl Scouting, girls learn the value of giving back, and this includes our Cookie program. The Gift of Caring program allows girls to choose organizations they want to support—and then they sell cookies to donate to these causes
Troop2Troops is our virtual Gift of Caring program, where girls sell cookes and at the end of the program they are shipped directly to the USO Metropolitan Washington. Troop2Troops supports our military, thanks to the USO, which shares the Girl Scout Cookies with veteran hospitals and military lounges in airports in our region. A Troop2Troops patch is available in our Girl Scout shop.
While working in their community, troops build relationships with their local hometown heroes. Perhaps they earned the Be Prepared patch working with their local fire station, volunteered to maintain a garden at a nursing home, or are working on a Journey project. Girls choose their local Hometown Heroes and sell Cookies to donate at the end of the Cookie program.
