The Iconic Cookie Sale is Back

WASHINGTON—The iconic Girl Scout Cookie sale is back in the Greater Washington Region, and this year girls will add E-commerce to their resumes as they market their cookies online. In addition to traditional methods, door-to-door sales and booth sales, girls are now reaching out to friends and family by email, accepting credit card payments online and offering shipping or girl delivery. This year’s Cookie lineup includes returning favorites: Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Do-Si-Dos, Savannah Smiles, Girl Scout S’mores™, and gluten-free Toffee-tastics™.

The new online channel is just one more way for girls to gain entrepreneurial skills, finance their good work in the community and get a taste of what it means to be successful in business and in life. In 2017, Girl Scouts in this region alone sold 4.4 million boxes of cookies.

Girl Scout Cookies are $4.00 a box, with the exception of Girl Scout S’mores and gluten-free Toffee-tastic specialty cookies, which are $5.00 a box. Beginning February 16, customers can visit cookie booths at local supermarkets and businesses throughout our region. Go online, www.girlscoutcookies.org and enter your zip code to find a booth near you.  All proceeds from the Girl Scout Cookie Program stay in the local community to support Girl Scouting in this region, including Girl Scout troop community service projects, travel experiences, volunteer training and camp maintenance.
