Planned Giving

Juliette Low Legacy Society

Juliette Gordon Low was the first to leave a planned gift to the Girl Scouts – she gifted her home to serve as the first headquarters. From the very beginning she embodied a G.I.R.L.  In her honor, our Council began the Juliette Low Legacy Society 20 years ago, to celebrate anyone who leaves a legacy of Girl Scouts through a planned gift.  Today, our Council’s 31 founding members has grown to over 180. We would be honored to add your name to our current list of Juliette Low Legacy Society members.

Why now?
The need for girls to become empowered is more important than ever before. Today, our Movement faces new competition but we know the strength and value of Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts provide a safe space for girls to try new things, develop a range of skills, take on leadership roles, work on badges and have fun. There is no better option, no better value, and no better program for today's G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ than Girl Scouts.

By joining the Juliette Low Legacy Society, you are ensuring the future of Girl Scouting in this region. Your gift can help countless girls realize their dreams and develop their full potential in their chosen fields.

How do I join?
Celebrate your commitment to Girl Scouts through a planned gift of $10,000 or more to our Council.

Here are examples of how you can include Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital in your Estate Plans:

  • Designate the Council as a Beneficiary of your 401k/403b, Thrift Savings Plan, or Whole Life Insurance Policy
  • Beneficiary designations offer built-in peace of mind. Your current budget isn’t affected because you make the gift after your lifetime, and you can change your mind at any time.
  • Name the Council in your Bequest or Will
  • ($____ or _____% is designated to the Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital Endowment. (Federal Tax ID# 54-0732-966).
  • Outright gift of cash or stock

Many of these options can be done online and your “click” can secure the future of Girl Scouts in our region! For more detailed information, click here for ways to include our Council in your estate plans.

Tell us about your gift! Once you have chosen the best way for you to join, please fill out this membership form and submit via email or mail to Alexandra Neal, Major Gifts Officer, 202-534-3796 or aneal@gscnc.org.

Time to Celebrate!
All new members are recognized in the fall at our annual Juliette Low Legacy Society Investiture Tea and receive the unique trefoil pearl pin shown above.

It’s not about today, it’s about tomorrow…
