Adventure Core Camp: Backpacking
Before they go, girls will share kapers such as latrine cleaning and campsite care with other attending troops. Friday night, girls and adults will sleep in platform tents or glen shelters and will share a site with other troops from around the council. Troops are responsible for their personal gear; all meals, backpacks, tents, stoves, fuel and other specialized gear will be provided. More detailed information will be sent to you in your camp packet several weeks ahead of camp.
Because the girls will spend most of their time with program adults, you do not need to have two adults if you do not need them as drivers. If a lone adult accompanies the girls, she or he should be a first aider or a camping qualified adult. We will place you in a unit with another troop who has an adult with complementary training. Your troop's camping qualified adult is responsible for preparing the girls for the event. This is a girl event with limited adult capacity and only one adult over the ratio for camping will be allowed. (See Safety Checkpoints in Volunteer Essentials for ratios.)
