"It's All About the Girls!"The Jan Verhage Endowment for Camperships
For the past 25 years, Jan Verhage has dedicated her career to inspiring girls in the Greater Washington Region to fulfill their leadership potential. As the Executive Director of the Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital, she positioned the organization to achieve unprecedented membership growth, developed program activities that engage today's girls, and connected powerful women and men to the Girl Scout movement. At a time when some seek retirement, Jan is moving to New York to take on a challenging position as the Chief Operating Officer of the Girl Scouts of the USA. Jan will work on the things she cares most about-growing the national organization's membership, developing innovative programs for girls, expanding volunteerism and delivering high quality service to councils across the country. To honor Jan's amazing contributions to the Girl Scout movement in the Greater Washington Region, we have established The Jan Verhage Endowment for Camperships. Our goal is to ensure that the fun and rewards of a Girl Scout summer sleep-away camp experience is available to every girl, regardless of her family's financial situation. Please take this opportunity to celebrate Jan's service to girls by making a generous donation to this endowment fund. As Jan reminds us..."It's all about the girls!" To contribute to the endowment:Through the endowment, we hope to raise $700,000 to send 100 girls to camp in perpetuity.
