Troop Leader Info

Q. Where do I get a Troop Identification Card?

A. Troop Identification cards come from the service unit registrar.

Q. What is the Council Identification Number? It is in the Green Pages?

A. The Council ID number is in the financial chapter in Green Pages. It also is on the troop identification card.

Q. When do I have to use the Request for Council Approval Form?

A. Use the Request for Approval form for (1) any overnight (other than a sleepover in a leader's home). (2) Any activity which is considered high risk (high adventure) - see Green Pages for a list. (3) Any activity which occurs more than 50 miles away from the council's boundaries (not the troop meeting place as some think. If a troop is accepted into a council registered program or is overnighting on a council camp site, the form is not necessary. They have already filled out one form. However, if they plan an overnight using information from Mosaic but not registered through the council, they must fill out the form located in Green Pages.

Q: What banks are troops allowed to use when establishing a troop checking account?

A. Troops can open an account with any bank they choose. SunTrust, PNC Bank or Chevy Chase banks have agreed to allow troops to bank for free (no fees). Sometimes other banks will also allow the troops free banking, but it is the discretion of the branch manager at that bank. Please also review Green Pages on how to establish a troop checking account.

Q. Hello! We are Junior Troop #000 and would like to begin planning a troop trip to Savannah, Georgia. Does the council have any material that would help us in our planning efforts? We were told that there was a "Savannah" packet of information available, but have not been able to locate anything like that. Any help you can give us would be most appreciated. Thank you!

A. Please refer to Green Pages, for information and instructions. The Birthplace Bound planning book is requested from the Birthplace as stated in Green Pages along with the other planning information you need. When you contact the Birthplace please have considered dates in mind so they can tell you the availability.

Please also refer to Green Pages regarding the required Troop Trip Training and regarding the Intent to Travel Form.
