Q. Where do I get a video, The Golden Eaglet? How long is it? It is the history of Girl Scouting, isn't it? What is it about?

A. The Golden Eaglet is a VHS videocassette reissue of a 1918 recruitment movie, 20 minutes in length. It shows the adventures of Margaret Ferris providing a revealing look at Girl Scouting in its early years. The video follows Margaret as she performs a heroic rescue, discovers new worlds in Girl Scouting and earns its highest award—the Golden Eaglet. There is a brief view of Juliette Low but it is not a story of her life nor the history of Girl Scouting. Black and white with a sound track of period music. It may be reserved and borrowed through the Information Center at the council office and for those served through the three outbased offices, each office has a copy for borrowing. Advanced reservations are requested.

Q. Where do I find a video on the Four Centers?

A. Sisters All...Friends Forever aVHS video-GSUSA 1999, is a current video featuring each of the Four World Centers (Our Chalet, Sangam, Pax Lodge, Our Cabana). There are two versions on the same tape. Version 1 is 6:11 and Version 2 is 17:45 and an expansion on Version 1. The shorter viewing is quite appropriate for troop meetings or larger gatherings while the second version repeats version 1 with expanded examples. Focus is on WAGGGS (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts) founders and vision and how that affects girls and adults today. As the title implies, sisterhood through Girl Guides and Girl Scouts is highlighted.

There is a copy available for borrowing from the Information Center at the Council office. Call ahead to reserve it and to make arrangements for picking it up and returning it.

A copy of Passport to Adventure: The Four World Centers—GSUSA 1987 is also available in VHS through the Information Center.

When arranging a council office tour you may wish to request the viewing of one of these videos as part of your tour.
