HERstory: Tell us your Girl Scout story

My name is Kati Capps, I'm 20 years old and I'm proud to say I am still a Girl Scout.

For me Girl Scouts has been more than an after-school activity, more than selling cookies. As a teen, when other interests seemed more pressing, my mom and leaders guided me on my path to the Girl Scout Gold Award, a project that sparked my interest in sign language and translating. That interest has lead me to persue a degree in Special Education and I will be the first person in my family to graduate from a university.

As a Girl Scout, I learned to be to be responsible, to respect the environment, to give back to the community and to respect myself. Most importantly, Girl Scouting has taught me that no matter where you come from you can do anything.
