The National Girl Scout Conference on Inclusion hosted by the
Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital

No cost to local councils, scholorships available for travel and lodging
When: Friday, March 11, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. to Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 3 p.m.
Where: American University, 4400 Massachusetts Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20016
What: The three-day conference will give each participant the opportunity to:

  • Participate in networking and training with leading organizations in the disability community.
  • Participate in inclusion training from Kids Included Together (http://www.kitonline.org/) and receive training modules.
  • Hear from keynote speakers: Dan Habib, director and producer of Including Samuel and Juliette Rizzo, former Ms. Wheelchair America and currently with US Department of Education.  More keynote speakers to be announced soon.
  • Take workshops about inclusion and learn from other councils about the success of the Including ALL Girls Initiative.
  • Receive Girl Scout Promise Practices on Inclusion and develop a specific council plan on inclusion.
  • Witness first hand the power of an inclusive conference for girls ages 11-17 and learn how to replicate. 

Who: We invite each council to send at least one representative that works directly in the delivery of membership, program and/or volunteerism that will be able to develop a plan on inclusion and help to implement the plan when she/he returns.

Dress Code:  Business casual dress code is recommended, but not mandatory.

Cost:  There is no cost to the Girl Scout council representatives.
