Standard Guidelines for Girl Scout Marks

  • They may be reproduced only from approved artwork.
  • They may never be redrawn, reproportioned, or modified in any way. If a larger or smaller version is required, they must be reduced or enlarged in their entirety so that the proportions remain exactly as designed.
  • They must always use the correct symbol-to-logotype proportion. The symbols may never be pulled apart from the logotype and used as separate design elements.
  • They must not be shaded or screened.
  • They may never be reproduced from a scanned image or from an artist's rendering, including computer-generated images created by individual girl or adult Girl Scout members or anyone else.
  • They must not be used as part of or within another design or graphic device.
  • Only GSUSA may authorize design variations to them.
  • They may not be grammatically joined or linked to any words, phrases, or lettering.
  • They must be placed on a solid background.
  • They may be displayed only once on a product.
  • They may not be used as a watermark or repetitive design, e.g., a background pattern on a computer screen or on wrapping paper.
  • They may not be animated.

Girl Scout Service Mark

The service mark consists of the three profiles (the logo) accompanied by the logotype ("Girl Scouts®") set in specific proportions. Although the service mark may be used in either the horizontal or stacked (vertical) format, the horizontal format is the preferred format. In addition to the standard usage guidelines, please note and apply the following guidelines:

Font
The Frutiger font is reserved specifically for the service mark.

Registration Symbol
The registration symbol ® must always appear at the base of the lowercase "s" in "Scouts."

Positive and Reverse Versions
When reproducing the service mark on a light color background, the service mark must be in the positive.

When reproducing the service mark on a dark color background, it must be reverse out.

Sizing
The minimum size for the horizontal format is 11/16". The minimum size for the stacked (vertical) is 3/4".

Airspace
Must have a minimum airspace around it of one-third the width of the three profiles.

Tagline
"Where Girls Grow Strong" has surpassed its 10-year life span and is no longer being used. Councils will be notified when a new tagline is introduced.

Profiles
The three profiles may not be separated from the service mark to be used online. Only GSUSA may use the profiles alone or grant special authorization for unique uses.

Placement and Font of the Council Name
When using the horizontal format of the service mark, the council name or area identification should appear in a smaller typesize. With suitable air space, the council name must begin underneath the "G" in "Girl." No lettering should appear directly under the profiles. The council name may be featured in any font except the font reserved for the service mark. The council name may not connect or be co-joined to the service mark in any way.

When using the stacked format, the council name or area identification should appear in a smaller type size. With suitable air space, the council name may be lined up underneath or centered underneath the service mark. The council name or area identification may appear in any font except the font reserved for the service mark.

Word, letters, or designs may not be incorporated into or connected to the service mark. The council name or area identification may not replace the logotype "Girl Scouts®", nor can it be connected to the service mark.
