Close to Home: Experience Dog Sledding and Sled Dogs!

Maryland Sled Dog Adventures LLC offers hands on programs teaching Girl Scouts about dog sledding, dryland (wheeled) dog sledding and sled dogs. Girl Scouts will work closely with our team of well behaved sled dogs harnessing the dogs, putting booties on the dogs, and learning all about sled dogs including: what the dogs eat; how the dogs are trained; the positions on dog team; and the commands used in dog sledding. Each girl will also take a short individual ride with our team of sled dogs.  Forms B220 and B240 are required for this high adventure activity.

Fee:  Girl $35 Adult/Non-Rider: $0.  Includes fun patch and snack.

Dog Sledding in Maine: Winter Cabin Adventure

Where: Starks, Maine

Come enjoy four days and three nights of dog sledding based out of our cabin in western Maine. Our Maine Winter Cabin Adventure is designed to be a completely hands on, four day, dog based, adventure where women and young women learn how, using a step by step approach, in a non threatening environment, to actually drive a small one to four dog team of sled dogs. Participants will then go out and use the skills they have learned to drive a team of sled dogs on the trails surrounding the cabin. In addition to dog sledding, participants are also encouraged to try skijoring, cross country skiing and snow shoeing. This adventure is perfect for older Girl Scouts (Cadettes and above), Moms, Mother-Daughter pairs, and troop leaders/advisors. All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Our special Maine Winter Cabin Adventure is limited to only six participants.

Fee: Girl $795 Adult $795 (includes four days/three nights lodging, all meals, and all dog sledding, skijoring, cross country skiing, and snow shoe instruction.
