Audubon Naturalist Society

Girl Scout Programs
Program Level: All
Looking for a WILD place to earn badges?  Audubon Naturalist Society provides an easy, fun-filled way to earn your nature and wildlife badges. We offer a variety of programs led by experienced naturalists at our Chevy Chase, MD and Leesburg, VA sanctuaries. Explore our ponds, meadows, and forests and experience nature up close! Programs range from 1 to 2 hours in length, depending on the badge requirements.

Fee: Prices vary based on program.

Environmental Concern

Brownie Try-Its through Wetland Wonders Programs
Program Level: B
Join Environmental Conern for Brownie Try-Its. Enviromental Concern teaches Brownie Try-Its through Wetland Education. Create your own program by choosing any combination of two Try-Its: Eco-Explorer, Watching Wildlife, Animals, Earth and Sky, Earth is Our Home or Plants. All activities are hands-on and materials and fun are included!
Fee: $15/participant for a 5 hour program; two Try-Its included with fee.

Wander with Wetlands
Program Level: B
Girls will get to celebrate with important family members the wonders of wetlands, while making crafts, creating their own flower pot and transplanting wetland plants.  Spend time with your granddaughter or niece on the Shores of San Domingo Creek in St. Michaels, MD as we identify the spring flowers and watch for wildlife on the Learning Campus of Environmental Concern.
Fee: $6/participant.

Survivor Program
Program Level: J, C, S
This program puts mental, stategic, and physical limits to the test! Participants will learn about wetlands and use their knowledge as they compete in field-day style challenges such as Migration Madness, Hyric Soul Toss, Soak It Up, and Wetlands Trivia.
Fee: $10/participant for a 3 hour program; $15/participant for 6 hour program.

Wetland Exploration Interest Projects
Program Level: J, C, S
Explore the world of Wetlands and work on the Eco-Action Interest Project.  Have your Cadettes and Seniors mentor juniors and their community in wetland education, hands-on activites, and fun wetland games.  This one or two day course allows girs to gain knowledge, skills and confidence.  
Fee: $45/girl

Society of Women Engineers - Baltimore Washington Section

Making It Matter
Program Level: J, C, S
SWE helps Girl Scouts earn the Making It Matter engineering Badge by performing six hands-on, fun experiments to teach basic engineering concepts. The purpose of the program is to introduce and encourage young girls and women to pursue careers in engineering. We perform programs for groups of 30-50 girls, so it's ideal for service unit or association events. Activities include civil, mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering.

Fee: Free
Where: At a meeting place with room for at least 30 girls and 7 six-foot tables. Site must have running water and electrical outlets.
When: Primarily on weekends or holidays. Call to schedule

Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center

Girl Scout Day Programs
Program Level: B, J, Teens
The Virginia Aquarium offers a fun environment paired with enthusiastic educators to help your troop earn badges in a variety of ways. Wander the nature trail in search of wildlife, learn the art of leaf rubbing, or create your own porthole view of the ocean. Meet Animal Ambassadors, play games, and make crafts. Brownies can earn Eco-Explorer, Animal, or Saltwater try-its. Juniors can earn Water Wonders, Saltwater, or Wildlife badges. Teens can earn Museum Discovery, From Shore to Sea, or Saltwater IPPs. If your troop already has these, call to see if a program can be tailored to meet your troop's needs.

Fee: $90 Program Fee (for up to 25 children) + Group Rate Admission: $6.50/girl; $8.50/adult.
Where: Virginia Aquarium 717 General Booth Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
When: Most days after school and on weekends. Call to schedule.
