What is a Mosaic program?

Mosaic programs are planned and facilitated by GSCNC volunteers and staff, or provided by vendors working with GSCNC staff.

You can register for GSCNC programs at http://register.gscnc. org/program using the same login you use to register online for trainings.

These programs are generally first come, first served until the program has been filled.

A few programs are designated as Random Selection programs. These generally have a limited capacity and high demand. All applications received by the Random Selection deadline are given equal consideration. After the deadline, troops or individuals are selected randomly for participation and notified via email of placement status and payment due dates.

Who may participate in a Mosaic program?

Many Mosaic programs have limited capacity and are open only to girls at the age level specified and the adults required by SafeteWise. Troop leaders are on their honor to adhere to these limits to ensure maximum girl participation. Some programs allow only girls to participate in the actual activities. Troops seeking activities as family events are encouraged to make separate arrangements with the vendor or register for one of the family events offered by GSCNC throughout the year.

How to choose a Mosaic program?

GSCNC recognizes the challenges of making plans with troops, often months in advance. Some troops find it hard to get a commitment from families or do not tell girls about a program until they are sure they have been accepted to avoid disappointing girls. Leaders can address these issues to avoid losing reservation fees by following the following suggestions:

  • Discussing program with girls and parents prior to registering
  • Help girls and parents understand the importance of commitment
  • Register only those girls who have made a commitment to attend
  • Find a replacement at the appropriate level if needed

Payment and Reservation Fee:

When you register for a program, payment of a Program Reservation fee may be required:

  • Fee will be applied only to selected programs that involve upfront payments to vendors or where program requires a minimum number of participants
  • Amount of the fee will vary based on the program cost- it generally will be about 25% of the total cost.
  • The fee does not increase the total cost of a program.
  • The fee is applied for each individual registered.
  • The fee is due within seven business days of registration or placement for random selection programs.
  • The fee is non-refundable unless GSCNC or the vendor cancels the program.
  • If an individual or troop cancels, reservation fee cannot be applied to other amounts due for the troop.

Payment of Reservation or Program fees can be made with a credit card, check, or money order payable to "GSCNC," or Request for Program Grant or Troop Loan. Program fees are due four weeks before the program date. If payment is not made, the registration will expire and the troop will lose their seats in the program.

Refund Policy

Where required, the reservation fee is non-refundable and may not be applied to other payments due. No refunds of program fees are given less than four weeks from the event date.

Wait Lists

Wait lists will be maintained for selected programs. If a troop is notified of waitlist placement, they will be required to periodically indicate their desire to remain on the waitlist. This ensures that those remaining on the waitlist are still interested if spaces open up. You will not be notified if spaces become available. You must request to be moved from the waitlist if spaces are available, because this does not occur automatically.

Inclement Weather

To check whether your program is still on for the day, contact the Program Hotline at 202-237-1670 ext. 592. Please listen to the ENTIRE recording before hanging up. GSCNC will try to contact leaders if a program has been canceled, however, the decision to cancel an event might occur at the last minute, so please call ext. 592 before heading out.
