Throughout history, women have fought for equality, voting rights, and self-reliance. During this program, Brownies will learn about historical issues that were important to women. They will also be introduced to women who rose above their peers to seek justice and equality for women of all races and backgrounds.
"Write Away"
Program Level: B
Writing and reading are important pastimes for documenting and learning about history. This program tells the story of women in the Portrait Gallery's collection who have shaped the history and culture of our nation through their commitment and courage.
"Celebrating People"
Program Level: J
Celebrating the unique qualities of each individual, this program introduces Junior Girl Scouts to historical figures in our collection who come from various communities of origin.
"It's Important to Me"
Program Level: J
Acts of courage and determination can be seen throughout history. This program highlights courageous women who left a positive mark on our country. It also provides Junior Girl Scouts with a basic understanding of traditions and values from around the globe, and encourages them to follow the Girl Scout Law.
"Museum Discovery"
Program Level: C
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to design an exhibition or to conserve a work of art? During this program, Cadettes will learn about professional museum careers through personal discussions with museum specialists. Cadettes will also be given a tour of the Lunder Conservation Center.
"Women through Time "
Program Level: C
Have you ever wished you lived long ago? This program brings participants back in time to discuss and learn about important women in our collection and the skills they would have needed to master in order to survive.
