2008 Girl Scout National Council Session and 51st Convention

Convention Center

October 30-November 2, 2008
Indianapolis Convention Center
Indianapolis, IN

How often are National Conventions held?

There is a National Convention once every three years.

I’ve never attended a National Girl Scout Convention before. What will it be like?

Conventions are fun. Girl Scout business is conducted, so you can expect to hear debates and speeches. But no convention is all business. There will be presentations related to Girl Scout program, there’s a great Exhibit Hall planned, and there will likely be opportunities to tour the Indianapolis area. In addition, our delegation will have a special dinner in Indianapolis.

What will the Convention schedule be?

GSUSA will provide detailed schedule information in June 2008. Until then, anticipate that our delegation will travel to Indianapolis on October 29th and return late in the day on November 2nd. For now, we are planning on four nights in a hotel. THIS COULD CHANGE AS MORE INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE.

How will we get to Indianapolis?

Participants can make their own travel arrangements, or be part of the delegation travel plans. GSCNC will be making group airline reservations for travel to and from Indianapolis. We will be working with our travel agent to secure the best ticket price possible and hope to be traveling from Dulles, National and BWI.

What are anticipated expenses?

This table represents anticipated expenses that are individually incurred. The council will cover half of the convention registration fee ($245 per adult; $175 for girls ages 14 - 17) for visitors.
