Service Opportunities Through Outside Organizations

Working on a service project with a local organization is a great way to get more involved in your community.  When contacting an outside organization listed on this page, please identify yourself as being a Girl Scout and learning about the opportunity through GSCNC. Check this page frequently, as new opportunities arise all the time!

Ongoing Opportunities

American Rivers National River Cleanups

Looking for a service project that gets you outdoors? Maybe one that can include family and friends? River Cleanups are a great service opportunity that get girls outdoors, on the river taking care of the natural resources in their community, plus they are a lot of fun!  The National River Cleanup Organizer's Handbook gives you all the tools you need to plan your own successful event.

Not sure you're ready to plan your own cleanup? Visit the American Rivers website to find a cleanup near you. For more information about American Rivers National River Cleanup, please contact Josh Klein at jklein@americanrivers.org or 202-347-9240.

KaBOOM! Playspace Finder Program

KaBOOM! is a national nonprofit that believes in a safe place to play within walking distance of every child in America! KaBOOM! is looking for Girl Scouts to help with our cause by participating in finding every playground in America. The KaBOOM! Playspace Finder is an online tool that allows users to identify and rate playgrounds in communities across the country. Have your troop find playgrounds near their home and get a participant patch. It is totally free to participate! Call 202-464-6165 or visit www.kaboom.org/girlscouts

For more information please check out the KaBOOM! Girl Scout Playspace Finder Program

U.S Soccer Foundation Passback Star Program

Are you interested in growing the game of soccer? Reaching out to your community? Helping those in need? You can achieve all three by becoming a Passback Star! The Passback Star Program enables individuals to collect new and gently used soccer equipment and distribute it to those in need.  Each girl who organizes a collection will receive a patch from the U.S. Soccer Foundation.

You, too, can change the lives of youth in your area by becoming a Passback Star!  Contact Sarah Pickens, Manager, Passback Program and Events, at spickens@ussoccerfoundation.org for more information.
