Girl Scout Basics

Girl Scouts is an international organization dedicated solely to girls. In partnership with committed adults, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship and the power of girls together.

No matter what a girl's age, there is a Girl Scout program designed to meet her interests.

Age Level Programs

Daisy Girl Scouts

5 to 6 years old and in kindergarten.

Brownie Girl Scouts

6 to 8 Years old and in first, second or third grade.

Junior Girl Scouts

8 to 11 years old and in third fourth, fifth or sixth grade.

Teen Girl Scouts

11 to 17 years old and in sixth through twelfth grade.

Juliettes

Troops

Girls are organized into troops or groups based on age level and interests. Adult volunteers serve as leaders or advisors to the troops or groups. Troops typically meet weekly or bi-weekly in local schools, churches and community centers. In addition to meetings, the girls plan and participate in FUN outings and projects designed to build character and skills.
