Parents may apply directly to GSCNC for financial assistance, but are encouraged to maintain open communication with troop/group leaders and to support troop money earning activities. As girls plan activities, they learn to set goals, budget and live within that budget. As they work toward their goals, they gain pride of ownership in achieving their goals, often giving participation in the activity greater meaning.

Program grants are designed to ensure that current family financial circumstances do not prevent one or two girls from a group participating in an activity that other girls can afford. Program grants are not designed to replace responsible troop financial planning and are not designed to underwrite event costs for an entire group. Parents can help troop leaders by being open about what is realistic family portion as events are being planned.
