GSCNC Patches & Council's Owns
GSCNC has developed additional recognitions which supplement those offered by GSUSA. These patch programs and Council's Own awards offer girls the opportunity to learn about subjects as an extension of Try-Its, badges and interest project patches; are of local interest only or support focused goals of the council. These recognitions were created by GSCNC, but girls from any council are welcome to earn the listed recognitions.
Patches - Patches are insignia worn on the back of the uniform, and can either be earned by completing a set of requirements or received after attending an event. These can include patch programs, participation patches and kit patches.
Council's Owns - Council's Owns are badges developed by Girl Scout staff at GSCNC. Current Council's Owns include Capital Currency; Looking In, Reaching Out and Roots and Shoots.
Troop's Owns - A Troop's Own badge or Interest Project Patch can be designed by any Girl Scout Junior troop or Cadette/Senior/Ambassador troop.
Currently, GSUSA is reviewing Troop's Owns requirements. If you're interested in learning more about a specific topic, GSCNC recommends you earn an existing badge or consider looking at ways to customize a journey through field trips, guest speakers and other avenues.
