Additional Information: Guardian of the Rainforest is perfect for Girl Scouts looking for a program on endangered animals and focuses on the palm oil issue with orangutans and other rainforest animals.  This program is also available as an online tool if groups cannot come to the Zoo. Activity packets are available on the Learn section of our website under Scout Workshops (http://www.philadelphiazoo.org/Learn/ScoutAdventures.htm).  This program is a perfect fit with the Animal Habitats badge for Juniors as well as covers many habitat and animal conservation requirements for all scouts.  Girl Scouts, Madison Vorva and Rhiannon Tomtishen, from Michigan worked on this project for their girl scout awards and helped us develop the activities.  They were instrumental in alerting the Girl Scouts of the USA that palm oil was a product in girl scout cookies and started a campaign to get the Girl Scouts to use sustainable deforestation-free palm oil instead.
