Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a registration fee for the Sing-Along?

When you visit the registration page (due up in November) you will find that there is a $5.00/per person registration fee for the event. The registration fee helps defray expenses of the Sing-Along PLUS each person registering receives:

  • 95th Anniversary Sing-Along patch
  • 95th Anniversary Commemorative Songbook

AND

  • The troop/group receives a CD sampler of the songs we hope to sing on the mall.

AND

  • for an additional $5.00 (total of $10.00 per person) you will receive the fabulous event Tee-shirt.

Will there be a new songbook and CD?

Yes! We are very excited about the new "Still Singing After All These Years" Commemorative Songbook celebrating 95 years of Girl Scouting. Over 100 songs will be included in the songbook -- old ones, new ones, never before published ones!

We will also have the "Still Singing After All These Years" CD. This is a great way to learn new songs and to be ready to sing on the Washington Mall.

Could you please give me information on the nearest hospitals to the event site? I need this information for my council trip information form.

You have your choice of two of the country's finest hospitals.

The George Washington University Hospital
901 23rd Street, NW
Washington, DC 20037
202-715-4000

Georgetown University Hospital
3800 Reservoir Road, NW
Washington, DC 20007
202-784-2000

Do you have any information on airport security?

If you are traveling in Girl Scout uniform, your pins/pin tab may be confiscated at the security checkpoints in airports. Security regulations state that any pin that has a clasp of one inch or longer is not allowed in the cabin of an airplane. We encourage you to store your pins in checked baggage.

The Sing-Along is not a uniform event. However, we realize that traveling troops may want to wear their uniforms at other times during their stay.

Where does our charter bus park?

The National Park Service does not allow charter buses to drop off and pick up groups for large events on the Mall. We will be making arrangements with Metro for free parking at suburban Metro stations for buses and cars.
Information on parking will be posted on this website on the "Transportation" page. It will be extremely important to register your bus so that we can direct you to the most convenient parking station. Sing-Along volunteers will be in bus parking lots to welcome you and answer questions.

How do we get to the "Sing-Along" site?

Ride Metro! Metrorail is our rapid transit, system and it is the easy way to the Sing-Along on the National Mall. All metrorail lines converge in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C. There will be Girl Scout greeters to assist you at the downtown and suburban Metrorail stations.

The Sing-Along will be held on the Mall adjacent to the Washington Monument grounds off 17th and Constitution Avenue, NW. There are five Metrorail stations within a 5-minute walk of this location:

Archives-Navy Memorial (Green and Yellow Lines)

Federal Triangle (Blue and Orange Lines)

L'Enfant Plaza (Blue, Green, Orange and Yellow Lines)

Smithsonian (Blue and Orange Lines)

Metro Center (Red Line)

We will soon post information on the "Transportation" page about the Metro farecard system, how it works and ordering farecards in advance.

Traveling by Metro is very simple. Check out the Metro website for a system map or any Washington travel and tourist website for detailed information.
