95th Anniversary Guest Performers

Harolyn Blackwell

Soprano Harolyn Blackwell's expressive and exuberant performances and her radiant voice have brought her a wide and varied career on the opera, concert and recital stages of the world.

Ms. Blackwell is a Washington, D.C. - born singer who trained at Catholic University and commenced her career on the Broadway stage in "West Side Story". She has performed with many of the major international opera companies concentrating upon Verdi, Mozart and Strauss roles. She received the Kennedy Center honors in 2001.

"There is a part of me as a performer that I am also a teacher, that when I walk on that stage, I hope that I am also teaching people, that I am exposing people to an art form that often we think is not available, that is not accessible."

Harolyn dazzled us at the 90th Anniversary Sing-Along with her singing of "When You Wish Upon A Star" and her duet singing Kookaburra with Odetta.
