Sudden Service: Girls Making News
Represent the Council at high-profile events in the Greater Washington Region.
Each year our Council receives requests from local and national organizations and governmental agencies for Girl Scouts to perform duties such as flag ceremonies, help at receptions and special events and speak with media about the opportunities available to all Girl Scouts.
Sudden Service was created to allow Girl Scouts to take part in these often prestigious and limited access events. These requests--often made at the last minute--may ask for a specific number of girls, or a particular age group.
Girl Scouts participating in Sudden Service events must have a complete uniform with properly placed insignia.
After completing their first Sudden Service event, participating Girl Scouts will receive a Sudden Service patch for their uniform.
If your Girl Scouts have a talent--whether it's singing, playing an instrument, dancing--sign up for Sudden Service: Got Talent! We are looking for Girl Scouts of all ages.
We may call on you to sing the national anthem, perform at high-profile functions and show-off your talent at several events throughout the 2013-2014 Girl Scout year.
Many Sudden Service requests are made with little notice. Girl Scouts participating in Sudden Service: Got Talent must have a Girl Scout uniform.
If your Girl Scout has a talent, is able to perform before large audiences and available on short notice, please register her by October 31, 2013 for the 2013-2014 Girl Scout year.
