SEVERE WEATHER PLANS - AREA A

Maryland - Charles, Calvert, St. Mary's and Prince George's Counties

We follow the Federal Government for closing the Council Offices and Mobile Shop. This includes delayed openings and early closings. We will post a recording on 800-834-1702 ext. 4029 when there is a delay or a closing that would cancel or delay a meeting in Area A.

The Ft. Washington Office may close according to the weather in Southern Prince George's County. It is always advisable to call the office before coming if weather is questionable. 800-834-1702/301-638-5373

Bell's United Methodist Church reserves the right to cancel the meetings if they see fit. It is suggested that you call ahead if you have questions. The number at Bell's is 301-899-7521 between 9 AM and 1 PM.

In general:

  • If Prince George's Schools are closed, the meetings are canceled. Materials can be picked up between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM the next day, if weather permits.
  • If Prince George's Schools are delayed 1 or 2 hours, the morning meeting will begin at 11:00 AM.
  • More than 2 hours, the morning meeting is canceled. Materials can be picked up between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM the next day, if weather permits.

If there is early dismissal, the night meeting will be canceled and materials may be picked up between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM the next day.


SEVERE WEATHER PLANS - AREA B

Montgomery County and the District of Columbia

We follow the Federal Government for closing the Council Offices and Mobile Shop. This includes delayed openings and early closings. We will post a recording on 202-237-1670 ext. 216 when there is a delay or a closing that would cancel or delay a meeting in Area B.

The DC (Main) Office may close according to the weather. It is always advisable to call the office before coming if weather is questionable. 202-237-1670.

Grace Episcopal Church reserves the right to cancel the meetings if they see fit. It is suggested that you call ahead if you have questions. The number at Grace Church is 301-585-3515.

In general:

  • If Montgomery County Schools are closed, the meetings are canceled.
  • If Montgomery County Schools are delayed 1 or 2 hours, the morning meeting will begin at 11:00 AM.
  • More than 2 hours, the morning meeting is canceled.
  • If there is early dismissal, the night meeting will be canceled.
  • Please check with your Field Director to arrange for your materials to be picked up.

SEVERE WEATHER PLAN - AREAS C & D

Northern Virginia GSCNC Council Areas

  • If schools are closed in the jurisdiction where the meeting is held, (Fairfax, Loudoun Prince William) all meetings are cancelled.
  • If school opening is delayed by one hour, morning meeting will also be delayed one hour and evening meeting will begin on time.
  • If school opening is delayed two hours, morning meeting is cancelled. Evening meeting will begin on time.
  • If schools close early, evening meetings are cancelled.

You have the option of attending the meeting that best suits your schedule. For example, if you live in Chantilly (Area C) but have difficulty attending a Thursday meeting, you may choose to attend a meeting in Area D.

Please Inform Your Field Director Which Meeting You Will Be Attending Two Weeks In Advance So That Your Materials Will Be Sent To The Correct Location!
