GEICO Art of Independence

Badge of the Week

Senior- Car Care: This month we are highlighting the GEICO Art of Independence with the Senior Car Care Badge.  Each week we will highlight a step to earning this badge.  With the Car Care Badge you will learn how to drive for a greener world and help your family with their fuel efficiency.  Visit to fill out the survey if you have earned this badge from July 2013 to June 2014 and we will send you a free Art of Independence patch brought to you by GEICO!

Step 5:

Cars cause a lot of pollution and can hurt our environment, especially in large cities.  Choose three cars with high fuel efficiency ratings and compare their selling points, practice energy efficient driving like using less air conditioning and keeping your speed between 30 and 60 MPH, or learn to drive less.  If you have access to the subway or bus, try to take public transportation for half of your trips.  Take advantage of services like capital bikeshare, WMATA, zipcar, and car2go to limit your driving time and your negative impact on the environment.
