Girl Scout Sunday occurs during Girl Scout week. on March 11. Girl Scout Week in from March 11th through March 17, 2012.
The purpose of this special day is to emphasize the importance of the Girl Scout Promise:On my honor, I will try:
To serve God* and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
Girl Scout Sunday provides a time for Girl Scouts to reflect upon the importance of the words, “to serve God”.
The Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital is excited to celebrate the inaugural year of the GSUSA national faith-based recognition, My Promise, My Faith. This new award gives girls the opportunity to reflect upon the connections between Girl Scouting and their
Girls can earn this award each year they participate in Girl Scouts.
Here is an outline of the basic steps a girl must follow to complete the award:
1. Pick a line from the Girl Scout Law.
2. Interview a woman in your own or another faith-based community.
3. Find three inspirational quotes by women that fit with that line of the Girl Scout Law.
4. Make something, like a drawing, painting, or poster.
5. Make a commitment to live what you've learned.

Girl Scout Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Alexandria, VA
Girls from Daisy troop 6098, Brownie troop 3972, and Cadette troop 4207 of Alexandria, Virginia, and other Girl Scouts from the congregation were greeters and ushers at Trinity United Methodist Church on March 11, 2012 to mark Girl Scout Sunday. The girls sang Ah, la, la (Grab another hand) during Time With Young Christians and finished up by reciting the Girl Scout Promise. Pastor Phyllis Early even brought her Junior sash from when she was a Girl Scout. The troops provided an after-church snack of Girl Scout cookies. Submitted by Laurel Prucha Moran
Girl Scout Sunday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Manassas, VA
Seventeen Scouts from 10 Troops --Brownies through Ambassador-- Observed Girl Scout Sunday 2012 at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manassas, VA.
Sixteen girls were awarded their "My Promise, My Faith" pins, one girl was awarded her Silver Trefoil and Gold Award,
one girl was awarded her Isadora Inchworm (30 hours), two girls were recognized for having received their Silver Trefoil awards, three girls were recognized for having received their Silver Awards, and one girl was recognized for having earned her Silver Torch. Submitted by Ellen Sullivan
