DC Declares March 10 "Pepco/Girl Scout Light Bulb Challenge Day"
The Washington, DC Council members declared March 10, 2010 “District of Columbia Pepco/Girl Scout Light Bulb Challenge Day,” in honor of the Girl Scout Light Bulb Challenge. The Challenge urges every local Girl Scout to change at least one incandescent light bulb to a more environmentally-friendly compact fluorescent (CFL) or LED bulb between January 1 and April 1, 2010. Pepco has generously provided a $10,000 grant to support the distribution of CFL light bulbs in Washington, DC, Montgomery and Prince George’s County communities. To date, more than 2,000 light bulbs have been changed in the Greater Washington Region.
