Congratulations 2010 Gold Award Girl ScoutsThe Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital (GSCNC) is pleased to recognize 220 local Girl Scouts who have earned the Gold Award at a ceremony Sunday, May 16 at Trinity Washington University. The Gold Award is the highest achievement a Girl Scout can earn, symbolizing outstanding accomplishments in the areas of leadership, community service and advocacy. Thirteen graduating seniors were selected by GSCNC to receive a Gold Award Scholarship, an award of $1,000 to assist each girl with her college expenses. The Gold Award is highly regarded by many colleges and universities, the U.S. Armed Services and employers. "We are extremely proud of this year's Gold Award Girl Scouts who have created a legacy in Girl Scouting," said Lidia Soto-Harmon, Deputy Executive Director of GSCNC. "They have demonstrated a commitment to serving their community, and are well on their way to establishing a lifetime of active citizenship." Find out more about Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards
