Girl Scouts at the Newseum
The Girl Scout Day at the Newseum offered an exciting look at the role journalism plays in society. On March 19, Girl Scouts navigated the museum's displays and interactive exhibits, which chronicle hundreds of years of news history and the power of the freedom of speech. Girl Scouts also had the chance to participate in media projects inspired by the newest Journey - It's Your Story-Tell It! and signed a GSUSA pledge advocating for positive images of women in the media.
The Girl Scout Week art contest finalists were also on exhibit at the Newseum, and Girl Scouts had the chance to view the art and leave their own mark by signing the "Graffiti Wall" at the end of the exhibit.
Thanks to funding by SHARE Co-Chair Penny Halpern,
Girl Scout Day at the Newseum was made possible.
