FAQ:

What can I do?

You can host a SHARE House Party for your friends and fellow Girl Scout parents and volunteers. House Parties are a great way to get together with other Girl Scout adult volunteers outside of a hectic meeting environment! In this case, we'd like you to host a viewing party for the Girl Scout Cookie College episode of TLC's DC Cupcakes. We'll do most of the work to make this a fun opportunity for you to help us raise money for Girl Scouting.

What is SHARE?

SHARE is GSCNC's Annual Giving Campaign. The SHARE campaign was designed to raise funds from volunteers and Girl Scout families, just like you, to make sure that the gift of Girl Scouting is available to ALL girls, regardless of their financial situation. Contributions support Girl Programs, Financial Assistance, Leader Training, and Camping.

What is my job as a party host?

As a hostess, you'll be offering your kitchen, living room, and TV to a group of friends and Girl Scout volunteers for an evening. The House Party themes for this spring are Creative Cupcake Decorating and Dessert and Wine Pairing. You'll be asked to invite your guests (using invitations that GSCNC will provide), take RSVPs, provide some light fare, and ask your guests to make a donation to SHARE to keep Girl Scouting available to girls in your area.

What will GSCNC give me to help with the parties?

We will provide the e-mail invitation designs, SHARE materials, Girl Scout Cookies(!!!), helpful paper goods like food labels, and a shopping list for anything you may need to buy or supply.

When should I host this party?

The Girl Scout Cookie College episode of DC Cupcakes will air on Friday, April 1 at 10:30 pm. You are welcome to host a party on the original air date or at any other time in April. If you choose to host your party at a later date, you can play a recorded version of the show for your guests.

Will the Girl Scouts provide a recorded copy of the show?

We are working on getting a copy of the show and are hopeful that we will be able to distribute them.

Okay! How do I sign up?

Just e-mail share@gscnc.org with the subject line "Cupcake Party" and let us know you're interested in hosting a viewing party for us! We'll get back in touch with details as soon as we can!

What is DC Cupcakes?

DC Cupcakes is a TV series on TLC about the popular DC-based sweets shop, Georgetown Cupcake. The show first aired on July 16th, 2010 and completed its first mini-season at the end of July.

Why are the Girl Scouts Interested in DC Cupcakes?

GSCNC recently hosted our annual Cookie College event, teaching girls how to become confident and capable entrepreneurs. The owners of Georgetown Cupcake, Sophia LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinis, were guests at Cookie College and brought the camera crew of DC Cupcakes along! The episode they shot in early December 2010, featuring our CEO Lidia Soto-Harmon and lots of local Girl Scouts, will air on TLC this spring.

We're excited to provide you with two party theme options and some materials to get you inspired:

Wine and Dessert Pairing:

Wine and Dessert Pairing will be potluck-style. Each guest, or pair of guests, brings a dessert and a bottle of wine that they think compliment each other well. Everyone can taste the food and drink and socialize as they watch the show.

Creative Cupcake Decorating:

Creative Cupcake Decorating lets you and your guests go wild with creativity. We ask that you, as the host, provide some plain cupcakes, frosting, and toppings for your guests to build their own Girl Scout Cupcake. We, in turn, will provide you with various flavors of Girl Scout cookies for your guests to include in their creations.
